The pancreas is a solid gland about 6 inches long, shaped like a thin pear attached in the back of the abdominal cavity behind the stomach. The pancreas has two main functions:
(1) It makes enzymes, which are necessary to digest food in the intestines.
(2) It produces insulin to enable every part of the body to use glucose (sugar).
Symptoms of Pancreas Problems
- Upper abdominal pain.
- Abdominal pain that radiates to your back.
- Abdominal pain that feels worse after eating.
