LPC is owned & managed by Dr.D.R. Kulkarni (HPB surgeon). The out patients are evaluated in his OPD at Lilavati Hospital & Research Center bandra Mumbai. His support team consists of hepatologist,Gl endoscopist, intensive care specialist, intervention radiology specialist and medical oncologist.
Dr. D. R. Kulkarni is a Consultant HPB Surgeon at many renowned hospitals in city of Mumbai for last more than 20 years. He earned his medical degree from Mumbai University and began his surgical career at B. Y. L.Nair Municipal Hospital, Mumbai. After post-graduation in General Surgery, Dr. Kulkarni worked in the capacity of Lecturer with the same department and then proceeded for advanced training in HPB Surgery and Liver Transplantation to Hong Kong and later to Paris.
He trained at two of the best HPB units in the world; Queen Mary Hospital, HK & Paul Brousse Hospital, Paris, France with Prof. S.T.Fan & Prof. Bismuth respectively. Both departments are tertiary referral centers for hepatopancreatobiliary malignancy, Liver Transplantation and have pioneered various techniques & treatment protocols for management of hepatocellular cancer and metastatic colorectal / neuroendocrine tumors.
At Queen Mary Hospital he trained in various liver resection techniques for HCC, multimodality treatment for Hepatocellular cancer, special hepatectomytecniques for giant liver tumors, liver resection after portal vein embolization or angio-embolization and adult to adult living donor liver transplantation.
At Paul Brousse Hospital he furthered his training in cadaveric liver transplantation, segmental liver resection for hepatocellular cancer and metastatic colorectal cancer, multidisciplinary management of colorectal & neuroendocrine cancer metastatic to liver, radiofrequency ablation for primary or metastatic liver cancer, extreme liver resection techniques especially after chemotherapy, hepatic artery port placements and liver specific chemotherapy (HAI), repeat hepatectomy etcetera
At both places he also trained in various types of pancreatic resections for pancreatic cancer (adenocarcinoma, NET, cystic tumors) and treatment of acute or chronic pancreatitis. These included pancreatoduodenectomy, distal pancreatectomy and central pancreatic resections.
At present he is attached to Lilavati Hospital, S.L.Raheja Hospital & Asian Institute of Oncology.
